Product Description

Industrial Gas-Fired  Infrared Powder Coating Oven

1.Description

Infra-red curing for powder coating of aluminium sections
infrared cure ovens provides process flexibility, long service life and exceptional energy efficiency. These systems are well suited to a wide range of curing tasks.

When infrared energy is emitted onto a part that is painted or powder coated, the energy is absorbed into the coating on the substrate, rather than the substrate having to be heated to
cure the powder.

infrared cure oven has a faster cycle compared to convection. Product positioning, the distance from the emitter to the surface of the part, and the intensity of the emitters, also impact how well, and how quickly, a full cure can be achieved.

4.Here are some more benefits to using an Infra-Red Oven:

Rapid Temperature Increase and Minimal Floor Space Required
Typically the use of infra-red will cause the intended process to be sped up by a rate of 3:1. In other words, if the process time was 30 minutes it can often be reduced to 10 minutes. Because of this fact, the required floor space can be reduced as well.

1)Lower Operating Costs
Infra-Red does not heat up the entire oven but only the part being processed. Due to this, less energy is used to produce the same results.

2)Precise Temperature and Process Control
With an infra-red oven there is an expanded array of controllability. Part sensors to turn the oven on, separate zoning for different parts and repeatable menus with touch screen PLC's are just a few of the options available.

3)No Cross Contamination
Infra-Red heat is transmitted in a very quiet and non-disturbing way. Once the curing process begins the coating is gelled, or liquefied, to the part and cannot be blown from one to the other.

4)Environmentally Friendly (No Noxious Fumes or Carbon Monoxide)
Catalytic infra-red is produced by a flameless reaction. The bi-products of this flameless reaction are CO2, water vapor and long to medium wave infra-red heat.

6.Some questions
Myth Truth
"I-R is line of sight. My part is pretty complex and an infra-red oven won't work." Infra-Red energy is exactly what we get from the sun and even when we are not standing directly in front of the sun, we can still feel the effects. With increased technological advances, heater placement and oven design we are able to achieve a more even distribution of energy and that translates into better curing. Don't just take my work for it, send us some of your parts and we'll run them through our testing facility.
"Infra-Red is not a good method for drying off parts." Vulcan Catalytic Industrial Ovens produce long to medium wave infra-red energy. It is this particular intensity of infra-red that is easily absorbed by organic coatings such as powder and liquid as well as water. As a result, these coatings increase in temperature when exposed to catalytic heaters.
Catalytic infra-red ovens are not suited for every dry off application, however, they are an excellent alternative regarding space and energy concerns in certain areas.
"Heat is the same regardless of how it is applied, it takes the same amount of time to heat up and the same amount of time to cool down"  In any process whether you are cross linking powder, curing paint or drying water the main concern is getting Btu's into the coating.  Since infra-red energy is absorbed first by the organic coating that is present on the part (e.g. powder, paint, water, etc.) we do not need to heat up the part in order to begin the intended process. It is also because of this that, quite often, the substrate cools much quicker too.
